Wedding Decorations Ideas
When planning your wedding, you will surely be looking for wedding decorations
ideas. There is a lot of choice and a great deal to consider. Of course much
will depend on the theme of your wedding if you are having one, as well as the
time of year and the location, but here are some suggestions for decorations for
a traditional wedding.
Flowers
Flowers are essential of course - a wedding would look very dull without them!
Flowers are a feature of all of the different locations and stages of the
wedding and you can create a color theme to your wedding simply by co-ordinating
all of the flowers. This includes your bouquet and the corsages worn by the maid
of honor and bridesmaids as well as the buttonhole flowers of the groom and his
team.
Then you will want flowers in the church or hall where the ceremony is taking
place. Usually there are flowers at the altar, in the lobby and along the aisle
on the ends of the rows of seats. Plus of course you will have flowers on the
tables for the celebratory meal and perhaps at the evening party too.
The flowers that you select will depend on the colors of your dress, the
bridesmaid's dresses and the color scheme of the rooms that you are using, as
well as the time of year. Using seasonal flowers will reduce the cost although
you must expect the flowers to be a significant part of your budget unless you
restrict them to the bare essentials.
You probably will not be able to arrange the flowers yourself. This is a
last-minute task and you will have too much else to do on the morning of your
wedding. Some florists may set the arrangements up for you without extra cost if
you order all of the flowers from them. Alternatively you could have a friend do
it, but be sure you will get what you want or both your wedding and your
friendship could be spoiled!
Table Decorations
Alongside the flowers you will probably want candles on the tables. There is a
lot you can do here to personalize your wedding reception. If you are holding
this in a hotel they may suggest standard candles and candleholders that they
can supply along with the table settings but you may want to supply your own to
make them more individual. Floating candles create an intimate atmosphere that
encourages conversation. Combine with marbles and colored water for an elegant
effect. Tall candleholders give a more formal look to the tables.
Fresh cut fruit can make a wonderful centerpiece for your tables. You may also
want to have balloons in your reception hall, and you can fix the ribbons to the
tables to have a cluster of balloons floating above each table. For maximum
elegance for a spring or summer wedding have just one color of balloons (yellow
works great) plus white. In the fall you can select fall colors for balloons and
other table decorations.
You should also ask the hotel or catering company if they have a choice of table
linens and view these before you decide on the color and style of your candles
and flowers. You may also be able to select the china, cutlery and glasses. Do
this early so that you can plan around your choice. If you do not like what is
on offer, you may even want to hire wedding supplies from a rental company.
Just looking through a catering or rental company's catalog may give you ideas
for your wedding. Other sources of inspiration could include conference centers
and magazines aimed at older women. Do not limit yourself to just looking in
bridal magazines for your wedding decorations ideas.
